We live in a world built, for the most part, from highly functional, pratical plastic. This tendency to use plastics continues to grow all the time new polymers are developed. When working with plastics in the manufacturing process, waxes act as external or internal lubricants to reduce the adhesion of polymers on hot parts of machinery, thus making processing easier and faster.
In the ' masterbatch' sector, on the other hand, the addition of selected waxes facilities dispersion of pigment so that colour is evenly distributed throughout the plastic. Waxes are also used in expanded polystyrene, where they favour particle aggregation and thus prevent the formation of holes.
